| Franklin Lakes' Bryan Thompson attended the Bruce Beck & Ian
Eagle Sports Broadcasting Camp last summer at the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center on the Campus of Montclair
State University. |
| Other high school and college students will have a unique opportunity
to learn about sports broadcasting when WNBC-TV's Bruce Beck and New Jersey Nets announcer Ian Eagle conduct their
3rd annual Sports Broadcasting Camp from July 26-30, 2004 at the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center on the campus
of Montclair State University. |
| The Bruce Beck & Ian Eagle Sports Broadcasting Camp will allow
students, male and female, 14-and-older, to learn about game preparation, writing and interviewing skills, sports
talk radio, the differences between radio and television calls and on-air presentation. Lectures, field trips,
daily visits from big name New York area broadcasters and practice assignments lead up to the final project of
calling the July 30th Newark Bears minor-league baseball game. |
| An advanced camp for returnees is offered that same week through
a partnership with the Montclair State Broadcasting Department. Professor Larry Londino and Madison Square Garden
Network's Mike Quick guide campers as they use professional equipment to create their own five-minute sports report,
complete with graphics, opinion segment and on-camera interviews with members of the New York/New Jersey Juggernaut,
a new entry in the women's National Pro Fastpitch League. |
| Beck has served as the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports
reporter at WNBC-TV since 1997. He also works on NBC's coverage of the NBA and hosts the Rutgers University football
and basketball coaches shows. |
| Eagle has worked for the last nine seasons as the New Jersey Nets
television voice. He also works for CBS Sports on its coverage of the NFL, along with college football and basketball,
and hosts sports talk shows on WFAN. |
| The Bruce Beck & Ian Eagle Sports Broadcasting camp is limited
to 60 campers who are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost is $625 and more information is available
about the Bruce Beck & Ian Eagle Sports Broadcasting Camp by calling (908) 233-1113 or by visiting www.sportsbroadcastingcamp.com. |
